LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
I just got back from Coloma with the 4th graders. It was a great trip and the kids had a ball. I hope you can make it to the San Miguel Skate night on Saturday. It should be a fun event. We’ll need many helpers for this year’s field day. See the PTO note below for more information.
Warm regards,
Patrick Eagle

Attendance this week: 98% – Wow, great week. (Last week 95%.)

Our next general PTO meeting is this Monday, April 22 at 6:00. We will be discussing the PTO take over of Field Day and would love some ideas and help with that! This is going to be a fun filled day for the kids and we will need all hands on deck to make sure it goes off without a hitch! As always, email mika.holman@gmail.com if you have any questions on how to get involved! Here is the link to sign up: Field Day Volunteer Sign Up

We also have a Shop & Donate with Forni Farms & Nursery on Sunday, April 28th.

WALK AND ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY
Bike (Walk and Roll) to School Day is Wednesday, May 8! Prizes available for kids who ride their bikes, skateboards, scooters, walk, or use any other form of active transportation on their way to school that day, either from home or from a drop off location a few blocks away. For those who’d like to ride or roll to school with a group, a neighborhood Bike Bus will be meeting in the parking lot of the Cove Church (5146 Old Redwood Hwy.). Meet us there at 8 a.m. Parents can drop kids off with their bikes or other wheels. We’ll be traveling through the neighborhood on El Mercado Pkwy and you can also join us along the way.
Would you like to help? We need 1-2 adult volunteers to hand out prizes at the front of the school and 1-2 volunteers to help ride or roll with the Bike Bus. Please email or text Sarah at sar.phelps@gmail.com or 707-833-2136. Click here for the flyer.

PARENTS ON CAMPUS
This week I sent the following message via Messenger: One of the comments in Areas for Improvement on our Youth Truth Survey was that it seemed like there were different rules for different people when it came to entering campus. Our policy is that if you are on campus during school hours, 8:00-3:00, you need to check in at the office and get a Visitor Lanyard. Some students need parent assistance to get to class, we understand that, but what we’re saying is that you need to check in in order to do that. That way the policy is the same for everyone and it keeps our campus safer. If your child needs help carrying something to their classroom, please check in, or leave it in the office, and we’ll be sure it gets to them. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

A ‘NOTE’ FROM THE MUSIC TEACHER
Do you have experience writing grants? The Mark West Education Foundation is seeking a volunteer to research and write grants to benefit music and arts education in our district. Please email Kara Kaufman at kkaufman@mwusd.org if you are interested or would like to learn more.
Join us at the next meeting of the Mark West Education Foundation on Tuesday, May 7 from 5:00-6:00pm. Help us keep music and arts education alive in our district!
Come out to support several district music classes as they perform at the LBC Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 11 for Music Appreciation Day at 11:10am. See you there!
